Department of Water & Wastewater

The City of Dexter Department of Water and Wastewater maintains water lines, the water treatment plants, sewer lines, pump stations and the wastewater treatment plants. The Department is committed to providing a high-quality supply of water to each of our customers. We are also committed to collecting and treating wastewater in a safe effective way.

To report a water or sewer leak between the hours of 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday, call (573) 624-5959.

To report an emergency after hours call the Police Department at (573) 624-5512 and they will contact our On-Call personnel.

Water bills are due on the 10th of each month. All bills are mailed or emailed approximately 15 days before the due date. All accounts require in-person application along with a deposit of $125.00 and a photo ID with social security card. Same day service requests must be made by 3:30 p.m. All utility service and billing questions please contact the office at 301 East Stoddard St.

How can I pay my water bill?

~Pay your bill Online
~Automatic Bank Draft: Customers may arrange to have their bill payments electronically debited from their bank accounts.
~Credit/ Debit Card: A fee of up to 3.5% for each transaction.
~Telephone Payments: Pay by phone 24 hours a day by calling 573-891-4083. You will need your account number.
~In Office: Cash, check, or card payments are accepted.
~Drop box: located on west side of building

How do I apply for water service?

All new water accounts are done in-person only at 301 East Stoddard St. Dexter, MO.

How do I stop water service?

To discontinue your water service, you must request service be shut off by calling 573-624-5959.

How do I set up auto draft for my monthly bill?

To set up auto draft you need a credit/debit card or checkbook with the checking account number and routing number.
Auto draft is set up in office only at 301 East Stoddard Street. 

Am I connected to the City Sewer System?

If you are not connected to the City Sewer System or live outside the City Limits, then chances are you have a traditional septic system. Visit the Environmental Protection Agency website that answers questions and provides tips on the maintenance and care of your septic system.
