How to get a Library Card

Library cards are issued at no cost to those who reside within the city limits of Dexter, or who attend the Dexter Public Schools. Library card applications are available at the circulation desk. Two matching proofs of address and a photo ID are needed when applying for a card. You will also be asked for the name of a personal reference who resides at a residence other than your own. A parent or guardian must sign for youth under the age of 18.

Library cards are available to those who reside outside the city limits of Dexter. An Individual Rural Patron card is $10.00 per year, or a Family Rural card is available for $20.00 per year. For the protection and privacy of all cardholders you should have your library card with you when you check out materials or access the computers. Anyone without a library card is welcome to visit the library and read newspapers or magazines, browse through the books, use the reference or genealogy material, attend programs, purchase copies, and find answers to questions from our librarians.
